Kris and I have started reading this book every night before bed. It is a daily devotional for you and your husband. We have been through the book several times and have started it again this year! It always gets us talking and sharing what we think with each other. This quote below was from January 11th, what we read last night. The premise of the day was that risk-taking in marriage may be threatening, but it's better than the alternative of shriveling up and dying as a couple. The verse for the day was Phillipians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I absolutely love this quote and wanted to share it with you!
To laugh is to appear the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas, your dreams, before the crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken , because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow.
But he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, and live.
Chained by his certitudes, he is a slave.
He has forfeited freedom.
Only a person who risks is free!
